From April 15 to 17 this year, Xie Zhenhua, China's special envoy for climate change, held talks with Kerry, the special envoy of the president of the United States on climate issues, in Shanghai. The two sides had frank, in-depth and constructive communication and exchanges on issues such as cooperation in addressing climate change, the leaders' climate summit and the 26th conference of the parties to the United Nations climate convention, made positive progress, reached a joint statement on addressing the climate crisis and restarted the channels of China US climate change dialogue and cooperation.
The two sides recognize that climate change is a serious and urgent threat to human survival and development. China and the United States will strengthen cooperation, work together with other parties to deal with the climate crisis, fully implement the principles and provisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change and its Paris Agreement, and contribute to promoting Global Climate Governance.
